Family Home Build: Nicaragua!

Donation protected
Meet the Salgado family! Mom: Luz, Dad: Roberto, Daughters: Yessica, Wendy, and Angeli! Natives to Salinas Grande in Nicaragua, this family has nestled themselves in for the long haul on a quiet dusty nook amidst the peanut plantations in Leon, Nicaragua. Life is simple and filled with kids playing soccer, adventures walking or biking to see neighbors and relatives, growing fruit trees, and raising your average pigs and chickens. On special occasions, grandpa breaks out his guitar and rather impressively strums unique handmade riffs, none like you’ve ever seen. Family and friends gather round in plastic chairs and make lifelong memories being together and sharing the love they have.

It is with much gratitude that we share and celebrate this family, who have over the course of several years, become dear friends. My husband, Jon, was invited last minute to jump on board a mission trip in Nicaragua, and during the group visit to the local feeding center (which helps children in need get one healthy meal every day), he met two playful bright-eyed sisters, and his heart was changed forever. That very day, God placed a deep desire on his heart to help care for their family in some way, shape, or form, but he had no idea where to start.

After meeting the entire Salgado family and receiving helpful advice from the ministry director on board and local friends, it was settled. Wendy and Yessica would both be sponsored by us for private school, where they could learn English and have a more well rounded education that could help set them up for more opportunity in their future. What an incredible blessing to see the girls have this change that could provide hope in a difficult economy and alter their families future for years to come.

Praise God! He loves the Salgado family dearly. From that time on, Jon felt called to begin fundraising for a safe concrete home for the family. The current corrugated metal walls, dirt floor, and plastic roof is not a safe daily structure to sleep in each night. We are hopeful now that with the help of many people together giving what they can, a safe concrete home can be built... one that has a front door and can protect the family from the environment and other dangers that arise. We believe each human on the planet should have the right to safety for their family, and together we can help make a difference.

This is a call to open our eyes to the needs of others around us and use our God-given gifts and finances to help change a life forever! Let’s make an impact as a team and bless the hearts of the Salgado family in the name of Jesus.

These girls are the next generation, and this family matters just as much as our own. If you feel called to partner with us in loving on this precious family, please know that your generosity will make a life-long impact! On behalf of the Salgado family, thank you!
