Faithful Family Finding Home
This page is to help secure safe and sustainable housing for this little family. Linda, her daughter Jennifer and her granddaughter Mo have been living in the family vehicle for the past year. Linda was diagnosed with ovarian cancer around the same time they became homeless and has undergone surgeries and treatments while Jennifer works and Mo goes to school.
These three ladies and their two guard dogs (Bella and Sadie) live in the car year-round, saving to stay in motels when weather or health are at their worst. They cannot stay in many shelters because Linda's immune system cannot handle the germs of the large crowds. It is very difficult to secure housing because of steep rent in the Denver area and extreme requirements (such as income totalling 3x monthly rent) in many apartment complexes. Even working over-time is not enough to keep their car running, feed the family, and take care of the initial costs of securing housing.
The goal for this page is to secure housing for at least a year for the family. A fair estimate for a two bedroom apartment in the area is $1500 per month. Twelve months rent at that rate is $18000. Should housing be found for less than this rate, any proceeds are intended for supplies in filling their new home (furniture, kitchenware, etc) and maintaining it.
