Support Jerome Jaffe in his fight against cancer
I'm raising funds for my friend and mentor, Jerome Jaffe who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. Jerome has dedicated his life to art and has added immeasurable value to the art scene in Cincinnati and around the world. He has influenced and supported countless artists in the local community and it's our turn to be there for him. Please help me give back to an amazing human who has brightened so many lives. He was the owner and curator of the Cincinnati infamous Rake's End bar. It served as a refuge to all casts and communities and was a staple den of inequity many locals cherished.
Thank you so much for your support,
Jordan Davis
CityBeat:
"Jerome Jaffe is a character. With his thick New York accent, wiry frame, perma-five o’clock shadow and penchant for misnomers, he’s kind of a minor celebrity in his home base of Brighton in the West End. The artist has maintained a studio/storage space in the neighborhood for more than 16 years and moved his home to the Ice Cream Factory. Jaffe bought Rake’s End from long-time area resident/developer Fred Lane, and he was determined to see the bar succeed."
The News Record:
"Rake’s End is a venue for artists that don’t fit into the commercial market of music. "
"What makes Rake’s End so great is that the more a person goes, the better the chances are of seeing something rare and beautiful, like a high-heeled lizard leg wearing a ruby stiletto."
"Some nights no more than two or three people are found at the Rake, usually the regulars indulging in conversation with Jaffe; other nights, standing room is scarce and you have to be mindful of the delicate and protruding art that blankets the narrow one-roomed bar. "
