Tank's Amputation

On Halloween night, we received a visitor on our porch, and it just so happened to be Tank. However, he wasn't in good condition. When I first saw him, he was covered in swarming flies, he looked lifeless, and wouldn't move. After approaching the right side of his body, I noticed his leg, it was completely mangled, exposed, missing skin, and pouring blood. Instantly, I panicked and knew this baby had found us for a reason. We called everyone we knew to call. We posted his pictures on Facebook in hopes of finding his owner, he was so badly beat up and just absolutely miserable, we rushed him to Cobb Emergency Vet. Because he was a stray and not our personal dog, we had to sign him over to their care. That being said, their process after caring for strays is to release them to Animal Control. Tank is currently in Animal Control and they are taking good care of him. I've been by everyday to love and lift his spirits. I have however been informed, his right front leg is not salvageable. He is going to have to have it removed. After Tank has waited the 7 days, to see if someone claims him, we can adopt him. And we plan to. I believe in my heart Tank found our house for a reason, he found us. I believe the right thing to do is to love this baby, cherish him, give him a happy home and a happy life.
I've called around to several vets and this operation is pricey but we aren't giving up. For those of you who are willing to donate, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts & Tank thanks you!!
