Hi, my name is Jaymi and I’m a friend of Angela and Gordon’s. I saw Angela recently for the first time in a year (thanks Covid) and she shared with me what Gordon has been experiencing. I had no idea what he has been going through!!
It all started in 2019. Gordon woke up and noticed his vision wasn’t quite right. He couldn’t read his phone, couldn’t read anything on TV, and things were very blurry. Gordon saw an Ophthalmologist, but they didn’t know what was going on. I can’t even imagine how scary that must have been!!
After 6 visits to the Ophthalmologist, he was sent to a specialist at U of M, but they didn’t know what was going on either. So, after several specialists at U of M, scans, tests, and eye mapping it has FINALLY been determined that Gordon requires cataract surgery for both eyes. I was so happy to hear there was a way to improve Gordon’s vision.
That’s the good news! Gordon finally has an answer to why he has been struggling to see and there is a solution!! The surgery will remove the current lens on his eye and replace it with an artificial one.
Here is the bad news and I find it shocking! The new artificial lenses he needs are not covered by insurance. When Angela told me this I was blown away. I wanted to help but didn’t know what to do. I just knew I couldn’t sit by and allow money to get in the way of Gordon’s vision improving. So here I am coming to you, the people that care about Gordon, for support. Since insurance covers the surgery, just not the lenses, reaching the funding goal is completely attainable. Any amount you can donate would help!
