Help Our Family With Unexpected Medical Costs
Beschermde donatie
Hello,
We are the Franklin family, currently a family of three but soon to be four. When we found out about our pregnancy, I contacted our health insurance provider (Imagine360, formerly GPA, formerly ImagineHealth) to ensure that the hospital we wanted to deliver at, St. Mary’s, was covered. On November 3rd, 2023, they confirmed via email that it was in-network.
However, last week, when I was 37 weeks pregnant, we received a devastating call from the benefits verifier at my doctor’s office. They informed us that St. Mary’s Hospital, where I have been receiving prenatal care for the past nine months, is actually not in-network for us. This is when everything fell apart. We were told we have to pay $9,000 upfront before my medically necessary C-section delivery could be scheduled, and that the total cost of the delivery would be $17,000. Our insurance would cover nothing. After researching our insurance plan, we discovered it is an ELAP plan, which means there is absolutely NO coverage for hospitals and only covers physician services. I have saved all email communications with Imagine360, including the one where the representative assured us St. Mary’s Hospital was covered. Despite this, they now refuse to cover the bill.
We are at a loss for what to do. I cannot go into natural labor due to health risks to both myself and the baby, but we simply don’t have the $9,000 required upfront to schedule my C-section. We are not only seeking financial help through this GoFundMe but also want to raise awareness about this type of insurance plan so no one else ends up in our situation. Imagine360 has collected over $8,000 from us just this year in premiums but has paid out less than $1,000 in claims.
Please help us by donating or sharing our story. We feel lied to and scammed by our insurance company, and we don’t want anyone else to go through what we are experiencing.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
The Franklin Family
