Everyone Loves George

Spende geschützt
Written by: Sebrina Plascencia  Throughout the city of Downey, everybody knows George. Whether you’re a cashier at a restaurant/store that my dad casually talks to when he goes to do groceries or you’ve been a friend for many years, everybody knows my dad and knows he is kind hearted and humble. While I continue to repeat that everyone KNOWS my dad there’s a lot that you don’t know. My dad and our family have been through a lot the past year. My dad worked 10+ hours one day on 2-3 hours of sleep and survived off Monster energy drinks with no lunch. He came home to a family argument and passed out. He was transported to a hospital where later that night, during a X-ray of his head, the machine slid too low and scanned the top portion of his lung. This is how we found out my dad had lung cancer. He had surgery, a portion of his lung was removed and now we can proudly say he’s cancer free. In the midst of all of this he’s also going through a rough divorce. A 25 year marriage came to a harsh end due to infidelity. Through all the hurt my dad stayed strong, stayed himself. We also recently had a new addition to our family. My younger sister had a cryptic pregnancy and surprised herself and everyone when she went into labor early one morning. Now we have little Georgie and she’s been a blessing, but as many of you know babies are a lot of work and can be very expensive. Well, my dad did not hesitate when he saw my sister with little Georgie in the hospital. We redecorated a room my dad was hoping to rent out for extra cash and made it into a nursery for little Georgie. If you know my dad you know he gives a lot and expects nothing in return. He went out my freshman year of high school and bought a dually truck to be able to help support my high school band in pulling trailers. This truck became his daily driver after someone stole our family Yukon from our front yard. A dually is a very expensive daily driver especially with how gas prices are these days. The truck is very old and he has had to replace/fix his transmission 3 times already. And though my dad never complains, we know this truck is a big load of stress as he drives it daily wondering if his transmission will blow again. Due to the divorce he is unable to sell or buy a new car for himself, so my sisters and I thought we’d find a way to surprise him. We would like to help buy him a car, and we are hoping some of you will help too. Any donation you make will be greatly appreciated. All of my dads acts of kindness are truly just acts of kindness. We’re hoping some of you can lend a little kindness and help us surprise my dad, George with any kind of donation that my sisters and I can put towards a car for him. My dad is the greatest man in the world, and though I am biased because I’m his daughter I know a lot of you will agree. So let’s all help give my dad a great surprise! Let’s get George a car! ... and if you have any thank you’s or funny stories you want to share with my dad feel free to leave a comment and my sisters and I will print them and make a little booklet to put into his (hopefully) new surprise car!
