Evan McReynolds - The Iron DID Swim

Donation protected
In the book of II Kings, there is an amazing story that completely defies physics "“ a miracle happened. The prophet Elisha accompanied young preachers while they built a place to lodge by the Jordan River. As they cut down wood, the head of the axe fell off into the water. With the axe being borrowed, the young preacher ran and told Elisha. The Prophet asked, "Where did it fall?" The young preacher pointed to the place. The man of God then cast a piece of wood into the water at the place where the axe had fallen in, and (in the quaint words of the King James Bible) the iron DID swim.

On Saturday, July 13, 2013, seventeen family members travelled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for vacation. Once they arrived, they settled in and soon headed for the beach. After some time, only three members remained in the water while the rest went inside to eat. Noticing that the tide was getting stronger, the three young men headed for the shore. Two of them, being older and stronger swimmers made it to shore. The youngest of the three, Evan McReynolds, age 14, had been swept away by the rip tide. Rushing into the house, one of the young men alarmed the family of the emergency. They ran out onto the beach, anxiously looking for Evan in the waves. The family immediately began to pray and call out to God for help. Even the neighboring on-lookers began to join in with the family in prayers as they continued to search for the missing boy. Within minutes, phone calls and mass text messages were made to church-family (from Akron, Ohio to Chicago to Washington D.C.) and to their beloved pastor. One phrase seemed to reoccur in their prayers - "the iron did swim". By the time Surfside Beach Police officers arrived, Evan had been missing for 15 minutes.

Word got back to the family that their pastor prayed that God would allow Evan to be found, that he would come back to the place where he went under. Another 30 minutes passed. Suddenly, on-lookers began to shout that it looked as if there was someone floating in the water. The rescuers retrieved what was indeed, Evan. The iron DID swim.

His lifeless body, pale and gray lay helpless on the beach as the rescue team performed CPR. After rushing him to the hospital and working on him for quite some time, doctors found a slight pulse. With continued prayers and with the doctors' care, Evan regained a strong heartbeat.

Still unconscious and in critical condition, Evan is now under close watch at the Medical University of South Carolina Intensive Care Unit with his mother, grandmother (Nana), and aunts by his side.

Evan loves his family and friends. He is a very smart and musically talented young man. He enjoys singing in his church youth choir, playing guitar, piano and hand-bells, loves eating Sour Patch Kids candy and lemons, and playing video games with his friends.

The cost of his care has become extremely expensive. His mother has not been able to work due to the long distance between her job location of Akron, Ohio and the location of his care facility in Charleston, South Carolina. Our family would greatly appreciate your help. Any donation is appreciated. No donation is too small, and prayers are DEFINITELY welcomed too! Please share this page with others. Thank you all so much for your support! God Bless you!
