Evacuate The Ramlawi Family From Gaza

Hi, my name is Eli Bickford. I live in the Adirondacks, NY and work as a carpenter in the Champlain Valley. I am fundraising on behalf of Sarah Ramlawi and her family who are currently trapped, living under constant Israeli bombing and siege in Gaza.

Sarah is a long time friend who I met in college. We got to know each other on walks by the Hudson River and then, when she returned to her home in Gaza we continued our friendship through long talks on the phone. Through the years and despite our physical distance, Sarah has become one of the most cherished people in my life whose insights, integrity, and genius has taught me so much.

Two months ago, as Israel was bombing the area where she lives, my communication was cut abruptly and I feared the worst. I got a call from her for the first time yesterday and she told me about the terror she has experienced in the last few months. Sarah’s twin brother was killed in an Israeli airstrike walking out of his house. Sarah’s younger sister was kidnapped for two weeks without cause by the Israeli army until she was returned to her family. The building where Sarah grew up and lives was burned out from Israeli bombing but she and her family have no other choice but to seek shelter in its hollow shell. In addition to the constant fear of Israeli attacks, there is terrible hunger all over Gaza and in the north where Sarah lives there is almost nothing to eat.

It costs Palestinians fleeing Gaza around $10,000 USD to cross the border and escape. I am raising $50,000 for Sarah and her family to flee. $10,000 per each of the four people to cross and then $10,000 to cover their immediate living expenses as refugees

in Egypt.
