Ethan Sinutko for Mr. Athens 2022

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Ethan Sinutko and I'm running for Mr. Athens to support Alex’s Saints Foundation through Athens High School’s 2022 Charity Week.

Every year, Athens High School hosts Charity Week during mid-February. Many charities are considered as options, but only one is selected. The school - in partnership with students - hosts many events in order to raise money for the donation that occurs at the end of the week. The last Charity Week was able to raise over $180,000 for Elli's House, a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving homeless and runaways victimized by human trafficking. Many students enjoy the opportunity to make a difference in the world, and some even think it's the best week of the school year. However, Charity Week is about more than raising money and having fun at school sponsored events. It's about teaching the next generation the importance of philanthropy, and giving back, as they prepare for graduation, and going forth into the world.

Alex's Saints Foundation is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit providing life-changing emotional and financial assistance to young adults who struggle with addiction, as well as their families, while empowering long-term recovery. Some of their services include pairing individuals in need with rehabilitation centers, and providing financial aid. Alex's Saints Foundation is determined to raise awareness around today's opioid epidemic and the dangers to young adults. The team works to share their story and message through social media, local fundraising events, interview opportunities, and supporting partner events. Alex's Saints Foundation is run by an Athens High School graduate who named the charity in honor of his friend, Alex St. Pierre, who suffered an opioid overdose one day shy of his 25th birthday.

One of the largest and most anticipated events during Charity Week is the bid for Mr. Athens. Students run for this title during the week by raising money for the selected charity in their name. Funds are raised through a variety of methods, such as selling snacks during school lunch periods and seeking sponsorships from local businesses. At the end of the week, there is a performance by each contestant, after which a winner is announced. This year, I will be submitting a bid for Mr. Athens. I've assembled a crack team of Charity Week volunteers, and would greatly appreciate your support. 100% of net proceeds will go to Alex’s Saints Foundation. Help us to support this worthwhile cause!
