Our friend Karthik, is going through a bit of a crisis. Many of us know that, USCIS is rejecting H1B extensions based on various reasons. He is one of the impacted ones too. But his case is peculiar. His wife and him are expecting a baby next month and they cannot travel back to India at this time, risking the health of the baby and the mother.
Because of the visa rejection, his payroll is automatically stopped. But he needs to continue to stay till the baby is born and is fit for the across-the-world-flight to India.
While, many of his peers and colleagues have taken care of the legal aspects of his stay, it is time for us - his friends to help him alleviate of any financial stress. We all know, Beaverton is not the cheapest place to stay. With his parents coming to the country for the childbirth, we would like to make him focus only on his family and nothing else. Because childbirths are special.
We anticipate he will be in the country for 3 more months and would like to contribute to our friend to meet his living expenses, which we have approximated at $6000 (for the 3 months).
This situation, although peculiar now, might be a common sight in the future. We feel the pain now as it is our friend and we offer our help. We encourage you to do the same. Any financial contribution, would come handy. After all what goes around, comes around. A good deed will indeed go a mile.
