Essential Clean Water for Those in Greatest Need

Imagine waking up knowing that the water you drink could make you and your family sick. That your family is not safe with the water they are drinking. Have you ever thought about what would be the case if your kids were thirsty and did not have access to clean and safe water? And especially, when you're living on $3 or $4 a day to support a family of five or more. In many communities in Ecuador, families spend a staggering 40% of their monthly income to buy water – water that isn't even guaranteed to be safe. That's the harsh reality for countless families in this country.

I'm Adela an 18-year-old Ecuadorian student, and together with my brother Martin, a 15-year-old teenager, we are determined to make a difference. We have been working alongside Raiz Foundation CAEMBA providing housing for many underprivileged communities in Ecuador, and have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of contaminated water on the health and well-being of children and families in Ecuador. We couldn't stand idly by, so we started our project SANAGUA.

Our journey with Sanagua began fueled by a desire to provide a sustainable solution to the water crisis. After thorough research, we identified sand biofilters as the most effective and affordable option. These filters not only remove harmful pathogens from water but also require minimal maintenance, making them ideal for these communities. They can collect their water from any nearby source (pond, river, etc) and purify it with our biofilter Sanagua.

We need your help to turn this vision into a reality. Each sand biofilter costs $130, a small price to pay for the life-changing impact it will have.
