Help needed after Birth Father escapes Ukraine.

Hi, my name is Karen.

My birth father and Ukrainian family found themselves at the centre of the Russian invasion. They were living in Kyiv, and had to make a quick escape.

The students I work with in Canada plotted a safe escape route for Gary to the main train station In Kyiv.

a bombing at the station when he was on the platform slowed his journey, however, he managed to make it all the way to Lviv.

upon arrival he had a two hour walk to where he was finally reunited with his Daughter Natasha and his Mother-in-law, Luda. The escape spanned 11 gruelling days.

First, they got to Lviv and moved 3 times within that city. Eventually, they were able to cross into Poland.

We are all very relieved that they managed to get out, beloved pets included.

Right now, they have found safe temporary shelter in Italy.

Even though they are physically out of harm’s way, the costs associated with fleeing a war zone have drained all of their available funds.

This stress has been overwhelming.

In a new country, without any money, these donations will alleviate some of that stress and help pay for daily living expenses for my reunited family and two cats.

Right now, they need cloths and food staples, a few home items to start, and working devices so they can communicate with family abroad and enable them to translate the local language.

In the near future they will need to find a comfortable place to live and funds for transitional expenses as the two younger family members look for work.

These Canadian donations will be converted into Euros.

I greatly appreciate any donation made in the effort to help my displaced family rebuild their life in their new home country.
