Errin is now just over 6 months into treatment and enjoying being back in Saskatoon with friends and family. His days are filled with lots of rest, lots of sports on TV, phone calls with his caregivers, visits from friends, and visits to the Cancer Centre. He is starting to receive more consistent government financial support which definitely helps take some of the pressure off. The process of applying for support is definitely a long and complicated one, but the staff that he has encountered in the process has been very helpful and understanding. We are very lucky to be in a place where we have access to such wonderful health care and government programs...thank you to everyone that has made suggestions on what to do with that. The funds raised so far via GoFundMe have been very helpful in bridging the gaps and covering expenses that don't necessarily fall within government standards. IE. vehicle expenses, dietary supplements, etc. Your support, whether financial or through the many gifts he has received has also allowed him to get out and do things that he loves (golf, the occasional road trip), we can't thank you enough for that. I (Kim) will be continuing to help in facilitating all of this (paying phone bills, car payments, etc) via this GoFundMe page. Now that we also have a fast-approaching re-opening date for the province a fundraising event will be in the works very soon. It will be amazing to finally gather together in person, stay tuned for more on that!

Earlier in December Errin Carruthers (Bones, Ernie, Monkey, Muscles) received the unfortunate news of a Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately he also received the news that it has been deemed inoperable. He will be making his way back home to Saskatoon for any available treatment, and to be surrounded by the friends and family that love him and can help take care of him. As you can imagine, the financial burden of dealing with this is significant. Everything from standard bills, to medications, even parking at the Cancer Centre creates major expense for him. Many people have already generously stepped up to offer assistance with moving, housing and various other offers, but ultimately the need for cash is urgent in dealing with mounting bills. There will be some sort of auction coming up in the future to raise funds, but these take time to plan, solicit donations and facilitate (stay tuned on that). Here is the place you can make a cash donation if you would like to help support him. I will help facilitate covering expenses with funds raised in order to alleviate some of the day to day pressure Errin is dealing with.
The financial burdens most families are dealing with this year are significant and we completely understand that, but any amount will make a difference for our boy. We are beyond thankful for all of the loving words and support to this point. Good people attract good people, and Errin is the best person we know. Thank you for the support of our amazing friend.
