Erin's Surgery Fund
Donation protected
After a tragic injury in 2014, my sister, Erin, underwent jaw replacement surgery using a bone from her leg over a titanium plate. The surgery is not an easy one to handle. During the recovery from this extensive surgery, Erin was unable to walk properly for months, her jaw was wired, she had a feeding tube and a tracheotomy. Our mother gave her time and energy to give care to Erin while she recovered. After follow up doctor visits, x-rays, pain and trouble with the jaw, they eventually uncovered the fact that the bone did not take. The failed bone is causing massive infections and intense pain. We are creating a fund for when Erin goes back into surgery and to help cover the costs during her recovery. Any donation, small or large, will help us achieve our goal. We are accepting donations through gofundme. Please message me if you want to donate offline.
Her doctors will take her in and remove the replacement jaw that has failed. Erin will go to Emory hospital and have all of the infected, dying bone and titanium removed, cleaned, and then they will take bone from her other leg to try again. We are praying for success and health. Erin will yet again take on a huge surgery and be unable to work, drive, and many of the other things that are part of regular life. It is a burden to undergo this type of medical treatment and the effect it has on a person’s life is tremendous. Raising this fund can help ease some of that burden. Without the surgery, the infection will eventually take over.
Our hope is that this second surgery will be successful and allow Erin to spend more time with her three amazing kids. With her jaw infected as it is, Erin has been to the ER more than 4 times in 2 months. That kind of healthcare is not cheap and takes time away from the kids, her job, and living a regular life. With a little support, Erin can go into the second surgery with more confidence and a peace of mind that will encourage healing and well-being. We have been so blessed that Erin has made this journey with such enthusiasm and heart. It is with that heart and warmth that we are trying to raise funds to cover medical and some living expenses while she is out of work and recovering from this complicated surgery.
Our family sends light and love to yours. Please bless us with your prayers and, if you are so moved, a donation. Donations are accepted here and can be mailed or given in person, please message me for info.
