"Endoversary" AED Campaign for Prince George

Donation protected
June 15th will be the two year mark for what we have now come to call “Endoversary”. For those of you unfamiliar with an “endo” see below:

Endo

V. To be thrown over handlebars on a bicycle or a motorcycle. Usually occurs when a rider applies only the front bake, causing himself to be thrown from the bike.

Since we might as well learn from our experiences, Chantelle and I are raising funds to purchase two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). One is for the Prince George Martial Arts Centre (home to multiple community sports groups) and the other will be made available to any community group wishing to have it on hand for an event.

Fact:

Cardiac arrest victims have a far greater chance of survival if an AED is available;
AEDs are stupidly easy to use; seriously easy. If you can put a sticker on a wall, you can use an AED.
**Warning** Heavy stuff ahead

When Chantelle crashed, she wasn’t breathing and we couldn’t find a pulse on her. She actually had a heart beat but it was super light and CPR was started. Once an AED showed up we put it on her and I hit the button. The thing talks to you and said “shock not recommended”. That’s when we knew she had a pulse and all we had to do was get her breathing, making things far simpler and might just have been one more thing that led to her survival.

Chantelle was actually an advocate for AEDs before her accident as she was the first aid person for her work, the karate club and had tragically lost a friend to sudden cardiac arrest (a frighteningly common occurrence in young athletes).

So, help us raise a buck and shock someone back vertical! If you can’t donate, that’s okay, but maybe just watch this video so you at least know how to use one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFvL7wTFzl0

And heck, if a corporate sponsor jumps in and buys one of them, we will name the thing after you!
