Ending Holiday Hunger- Leeds Summer

*For those asking,  the GoFundMe amount shown is the overall amount raised- not how muchI currently have left to create parcels. It does not update with withdrawals :) 

Hi all

After creating and distributing 200+ parcels in December 2020, 300+ in February 2021 and almost 500 parcels in the 2021 Easter holidays, I am now collecting donations for the summer holidays. As I'm sure you can imagine, the summer holidays is the most difficult time for many families. Through no fault of their own, parents and guardians often find themselves struggling to afford the basic necessities without school support. This means that thousands of children are spending their holidays hungry!

As always, all donations are spent directly on food (this time I will be using Costco for bulk buying staples), and the organisation itself is run entirely by volunteers.

The project: 

Hi all,

As many of you will know, 1 in 5 children in Leeds were living in poverty BEFORE the pandemic. Unfortunately, this number is increasing daily. Inspired by the Marcus Rashford Campaign, a team of wonderful volunteers and I have decided to take matters into our own hands.

This organisation will provide food parcels  for children in the school holidays. We are currently providing to women’s refuges, schools, addiction support workers and children’s centres to distribute to families in the greatest need. We are also accepting self-referrals. 

This project began in December 2020, and hopes to continue throughout all of the foreseeable school holidays.  

If you would prefer to donate food items, that would be amazing.  Please contact me or the page and we will arrange to collect.  This page is for those who may not live locally or are unable to donate food/ time but would still like to help the project!

Holiday hunger is not acceptable, and I hope together we can end child hunger in Leeds
