End of Life Care for Melissa

This is my best friend Melissa of nearly 25 years. She has suffered with severe asthma that has been resistant to treatment. In addition to her asthma she has suffered a PE, required open heart surgery for a mass in her heart, has been on life support half a dozen times over the past year, suffers from Cushing’s syndrome, diabetes and the list goes on and on. In the beginning of December Melissa chose to go onto hospice care, despite so desperately wanting to stay with her 8 year old daughter Taylor. I believe Melissa has been holding on to this life because of her love for her daughter. Her Mother Debra is like a second mother to me. She was told right before New Years 2017, that it was time to stop working and be home with Melissa. Hospice nurses have felt three times that Melissa would pass soon, after up to four days of being unresponsive with oxygen saturations in the 40’s. Melissa has surprised everyone with popping out of this state each time. I do not know when she will decide to finally let go.
Meanwhile Debra has spent every waking minute of the past 3 months caring for both Melissa and sweet Taylor. She has run out of sick/vacation/FMLA and is due back to work on Saturday 3/24/18. Of course she is not able to return, and is in dire need of some sort of financial assistance. Reluctantly she agreed to let me post their story. Taylor’s Birthday is April 3rd, and I’m praying her mother’s passing is not to close to that day. Any amount is greatly appreciated, and no amount is to small. I would also like to plead for you to share
