Our global women's empowerment project is emPowered by Beauty! emPowered By Beauty is a Global Beauty School.
In this program, We teach women living primarily in urban areas of Accra, Panama City and Toronto how to be a make-up artist. We further assist by helping participants to promote their new skills with entrepreneur training and apprenticeships. This program is free of charge to participants, all supplies and instruction are covered by your generous donations.
Learned skills help women to earn a living wage! The results help our participants to be emPowered, economically!

emPowered by Beauty programs initially will be available in Ghana, Panama and Canada. Our plan includes expansion to other countries. Specifically Nigeria and Cuba.
I am Jessica Carter. emPowered by Beauty is my idea, but it is born from many interactions with wonderfully supportive people over the years, family, friends, actors, NGO's, ambassadors, politicians and producers. emPowered by Beauty is about collaboration, education and sharing knowledge worldwide with women who need a bit more help to secure a better economic position in life!
I have been a Make- up artist in the film/TV industry for 20 years and notably, the Head Make-up artist on the award-winning Canadian television show Degrassi, for 15 years.
The longest running show in Canadian history. Degrassi has staked its ground and broken barriers in its ability to celebrate diversity, inclusion, real-life struggles and pain, Degrassi is viewed by millions worldwide. My tenure with Degrassi has influenced me greatly and shown me how blessed I am and I will always be thankful. I feel it is my obligation to share my blessings with those who can benefit most.
A few years ago, I was invited by a local Women's organization, Network of Women in Growth, to travel to Ghana, West Africa to teach Make-Up artistry and Natural Skin Care product-making to a group of 25 underemployed women.
The experience was life-changing. The women that I worked with were immediately enabled to use their new skills, over a short 14 day period the women went to work in their communities and started to earn an income.
The benefits to me were deep, perhaps as a woman of colour even more profound. I realised that armed with my makeup brushes and my desire to teach, I could make a positive change in the lives of countless women.
Such a short time to facilitate and the result was WOMEN’S ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT.
Our initial two-week program was successful in Ghana.
Our new focus is on the introduction of an 8-week program back in Ghana. Continue to develop in Panama, and launch in Nigeria.
We have logistical support in all three locations and there is an expressed need for our unique training programs.
By supporting this program you will be profoundly benefiting the lives of countless families by economically empowering women. All supplies and lessons are provided without any cost to the women. Each participant finishes the program with immediate tools to start their make-up career, working at special events, in beauty salons and ultimately starting businesses within their communities.
Our participants also receive ongoing business support and apprenticeships when available.
