Hi, I’m Nikole. Basketball has always been my passion—but as a woman, it’s never been easy. I’m short, small, and no matter what country I’m in, I’ve struggled to find women’s basketball shoes. In a sport dominated by men, access and stereotypes have been constant barriers.
Now, imagine being a girl in Kibera, the largest urban slum in Kenya. You don’t know when your next meal will come. Yet, you still show up to the court. You play basketball because it gives you freedom, joy, and a way to connect. You play because it gives you hope.
That’s the power of Aubrey, who started the non-profit Blossoms of Hope to empower girls in Kibera to play basketball at an early age.
Aubrey grew up in Kibera. He knows the challenges—and he’s fighting them every day. He started the girls' basketball team to give young women a chance: a chance to develop a passion, earn an education (players get scholarships to attend high school), and find their voice.
He’s not just a coach. He’s a mentor, a community leader, and a role model. He gives 100% of his time and heart to these girls.

- Nutritious meals – For before and after practice (many girls come to training hungry)
