Emmett Monaco - An Angel Among Us

Meet Emmett. He was born 5 years ago, healthy and happy. At age 2, his parents started noticing changes. Changes that didn't make sense for a toddler...the ability to walk and talk slowly disappeared, as did his eyesight and his ability to eat. His parents sought countless medical opinions to finally be told that Emmett has a rare genetic disease that is terminal, Krabbe Disease. Aside from their helplessness watching him live with seizures and constant nerve pain, their most frustrating position is now knowing that had Emmett been screened at birth, all of this could have been avoided. There is a treatment available that is extremely effective - but only if administered at birth. As of now, Emmett's prognosis is 1-4 years.

This fund is to help ensure Emmett's life has maximum meaning...both while he is still here with his family and once he gets his angel wings. There are three primary goals of this fund:

• Assisting the family's efforts to expand newborn screening across the country
• Supporting Emmett’s immense and ongoing medical expenses that are not covered by insurance
• Providing adventures for Emmett and his family while he is still able to experience them
