Hello, my name is Sabine and I am an organizer with the Rochester Homeless Union. I am organizing this urgent donation drive to secure funds to purchase two portable generators for two different homeless encampments in Rochester, NY. In the middle of a brutal winter and an increasing Covid-19 spike, we are still fighting to end the homelessness crisis. We have folks out on the street who have been denied access to SAFE and ADEQUATE shelters and hotels who have been trying to survive horrible conditions. In order to help provide access to electricity and heat to keep our community members alive we are asking for your help to purchase these items! Everyday we hear stories of our folks being denied access to hotels and social services even during the Code Blue enacted by Monroe County. Unfortunately, we know we cannot rely on our government to take care of our community but we know we will.
