Emergency: Repairs to home and medical expenses

Update: plumbing estimate 2750 bringing the total to $18,285

TLDR: Air conditioning floor duct system collapsed due to a busted water pipe which has caused our foundation to shift basically floating house causing our sun room to sink and separate from the ceiling. No running water due to turning it on floods the house. My 90%disabled veteran husband can’t work so I myself am working full time and looking for a part time job to do after 1430 hours. Lost my previous job in August so no insurance to pay for my autistic daughters medical appointments coming up. When it rains it pours. Total cost so far 14,535 not including medical expenses and the plumbing and foundation work. 

Hello my name is Katie. I created this fundraiser because my family has been hit with a abundance of homeowner issues all at once and I am at a loss. We had a repair company out due to our air conditioning unit was still under warranty and our problems just got worse from there. They fixed the air conditioning and turned it on. Shortly after we realized our floor vents filling with water. They discovered that our air duct system had collapsed and flooded with what was they thought was rain water and they would have to concrete it off and “flip” the system meaning put a whole new system in where instead of floor vents it would be ceiling ventilation system. That cost is 10,000$ which I have the contract for. Then we got more bad news they discovered that as taking out the old HVAC that we have a busted water line and it has flooded our foundation and our sun room is sinking and has separated from our ceiling which now requires an additional 3200$ to put in additional piers to stabilize the foundation. Not to mention our house is basically floating right now. Which I have a quote for that also.

 But until any of that can be fixed we have to get a Plummer out to access and quote how much that will cost. Our insurance company even though we had to turn off our water to keep from flooding the house more is still considered livable even without running water. We have nearby parks that have running water so we just boil it if need be. So it has been a very long last couple of days. We have already taken out a loan and credit cards to help with these expenses and do not have the ability to borrow more money and haven’t even touched how much plumbing repair is going to cost and foundation repair. 

 My husband is a 90% disabled veteran and if you do know us personally you know of his struggle just like millions of Americans to get the VA to do anything due to the military mentality drink water you will be fine. I am also currently working at hobby lobby warehouse and looking to pick up a second job to help with these expenses. My hours of availability for the second job are 1430-1800 no matter the type of work If you know a job that is hiring and would be willing to do those hours please let me know. I am willing to work any job. I say this so people understand that I know this is part of life and stuff happens but I am doing everything to be able to take care of this myself. 

My daughter also has special needs I lost my job in August which means we have no savings. I found another job I am very grateful for. So I am currently not eligible yet to get insurance. During all this new chaos we got a call from my daughters doctor about my daughters testing opening up that she has been on a waitlist for 1 year and a half for. We suspect she is autistic due to a ton of ticks she has and sensory issues and also she is non verbal. The appointment is scheduled for January but the new insurance won’t cover due to not meeting deductible cause the new year so bad timing with holidays and anniversary which unfortunately are no longer a priority. They safety in the home and having a home is greater. Hard to get into the spirit of the holidays with all of this weighing. Any help is appreciated if you personally know us then you know how difficult it was to ask for help. The money will be used for repairs and to pay off debt that has occurred and the medical expenses. I appreciate you reading my story. Even if you can’t help maybe I helped someone learn it is ok to ask for help. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and ask for help especially when it is to provide for your family.
