Emergency Medical Costs for Maureen & George
Spende geschützt
In January of 2022, George, my grandfather, and his partner Maureen were visiting family in the Bahamas. Unfortunately, George became very ill with Pneumonia and spent two weeks in the hospital without contact with any family members. The hospital in the Bahamas was only able to provide minimal care for him, preventing proper healing.
Attempts were made to air ambulance him home to Halifax, but it was deemed impossible because there were no beds available for him in Halifax. So finally, he was air ambulanced to Florida, where other medical complications developed, and he spent another two weeks in the hospital. George and Maureen's medical insurance was running out, and George's health was quickly diminishing.
George finally returned to Halifax, where he is currently being treated at the QEII Halifax Hospital in critical condition.
Due to the extensive hospital stays abroad, the medical costs for George have been astronomical. George and Maureen's insurance has covered some of the expenses but not all.
If you know my grandfather George Thompson, you know what a fighter and a trooper he is. He is 89, usually with the vitality of a 30-year-old. George is loved by all who have had the pleasure to know him.
Maureen and her family have been instrumental in George's healing process. They have been by his side every chance they were able to be and been able to support not only George but his daughters as well when they were unable to be by his side. In addition, Maureen's love and devotion to George has helped him immensely through this difficult time.
Anything you or anyone you know can do to help George and Maureen during this medical emergency would be greatly appreciated.
