Support Emerald Hills Railway

Donation protected
If you have raised kids in and around Emerald Hills in the last 17 years you most likely know about the Emerald Hills Railway on Hillcrest Way (or "Train House" as my son calls it).  Jay and George Whitehill acquired a 50's era 12-gauge Carnival Style steam train in 2000 and then built a track around their house.

Every major holiday, they open up their house and provided rides on the train.  The waiting line of eager kids always stretches down their driveway and along-side the road.  In addition, Jay and George allow selected charities to auction off a "Train Party".  All of these were provided for free to the kids and the charities.

We were sad to learn this weekend that the train is in need of $18,000 of repair (a broken boiler and wheels that need maintenance) and so the Emerald Hills tradition of the Holloween and Christmas rides are canceled for this year.

Though they appreciate the help, this GoFundMe request was not Jay and George's idea, because, like always, they were going to self-fund the repairs to continue the railway.  This GoFundMe campaign is a community response in thanks for their efforts and to acknowledge that these types of selfless acts for the betterment of a community make us proud to be from Emerald Hills, Redwood City, and the Peninsula.

All donations minus the 5% GoFundMe hosting cost and 2.9% transaction processing fee will go to the Emerald Hills Railway as a gift.  You can see the train link here: http://www.amsmrp.com/train/

Even if we don't make the full $18,000, anything will help.
