Hi everyone! Last week, the day before Nick and I were to leave for a wedding trip, we had to take Ella to the ER after she spent the whole day throwing up. After an ultrasound and bloodwork, we were told Ella had an intestinal blockage and would need to be sent to a second ER vet for immediate surgery. Anyone who knows Ella and me knows the years of doctors/specialists, medications, and countless tears we have endured. After everything we've been through, Ella has been the biggest trooper and sweetest patient, but this was hard to watch her go through. With her age and the toll her body has already been through, we have never seen her so un-Ella-like. We got lucky, though. The second ER brought her into surgery, opened her up and realized that thanks to the meds and fluids they put her on, the blockage had moved naturally, and no further surgery was needed. This was music to our ears, as recovery would be easy, and Ella would return to her old, sweet, grumpy self soon!

Initially, we were quoted over $8000 for surgery and in-house recovery. Thankfully, because they didn't have to cut into the intestine, the cost was cut down by a few thousand dollars. But $4,800 is still a lot to spend in one day when it is not in your budget.

It was never an idea if we would spend the money on Eloise. But it has been a conversation on how. So here we are, asking our community for a little help. Anything helps, even if it's a share on Instagram or Facebook. We are incredibly humbled and appreciative.
