Eli’s Camper Van Cross Country Wish Trip

My son Eli is 6 years old and suffers from many life threatening conditions. Make-a-Wish has denied his wish twice saying he doesn’t meet their medical criteria. He has had 7 life threatening hospital admissions in the last 12 months with the most current nearly taking his life to due him going into respiratory failure 3 times. He spent 5 days in the ICU fighting for his life and I didn’t think I was going to be able to bring him home.

He deserves a wish before it’s too late.

Eli’s health is complicated by so many conditions including the following:

-cerebral palsy

-chronic lung disease

-asthma

-bilateral hearing loss

-cortical visual impairment

-non verbal

-wheelchair dependent

-PFO (heart condition)

-cyst on the brain

-trismus (lockjaw)

-dysphasia (can’t swallow)

-22q19 genetic disorder (DiGeorge syndrome)

-born at 26 weeks gestation

-global developmental delays

-feeding tube dependent

-level 3 autism

-suppressed immune system

Eli was hospitalized 7 times over the 12 months. His lungs are deteriorating and not working nearly as well at they used to. He now depends on an airway clearance vest and cough assist machine to help keeps his lungs clear.

My sweet boy deserves a wish and I am going to make this happen for him. I plan to purchase a camper van and take him on an extended and slow paced road trip at his pace to visit all the major national landmarks. He does not enjoy the company of large crowd and the risk of catching a virus in heavily populated places, poses too much risk to him. We want to purchase a van so I can continue to take him in fun adventures as long as we are able.
