Eleni Longwell Anastasi Chapel Fund

Donation protected
My mother, Eleni, has always had a passion for beauty.  The beauty of God’s creations: the sea, the mountains, a rainbow, or a sunset.  The beauty of the arts: a ballet, a symphony, an opera, a sculpture, a painting or architecture.  The beauty of gathering with loved ones. She loves to create beautiful experiences to share with others.

Throughout the years, Eleni has helped bring beauty into other people’s lives by passionately supporting charitable organizations and the arts.  She worked tirelessly to create a beautiful fundraiser for The Children’s School (a school for special needs children), in Orlando. She volunteered at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in Washington, D.C. She actively participated in fundraising for the American Cancer Society.  She supported the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra as a donor/fundraiser.  She was active in organizing a major Greek Festival to benefit the St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox church, in Honolulu, HI.  In Sydney, Australia, Eleni actively supported the symphony, the art museum, and the St. George Greek Orthodox Church.  In Orlando, she and my father made a major donation to help build the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center (their name is inscribed on the wall on the second floor if you want to look for it).

Now, my dear mother has passed away.  Remarkably, even as she was preparing for her life’s journey to end, she was still seeking to bring beauty and joy to others.  During the process of choosing her final resting place, she found a small, quaint, and beautiful Greek Orthodox cemetery nestled within Florida Memorial Gardens, in Rockledge, Florida.  In speaking with Father Dimitri, of St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox church, she learned of the need to build a small chapel so that loved ones may have a proper memorial service or light a candle and say a prayer when visiting. This photograph illustrates what the chapel will be like.

For all of you who have experienced the grace, elegance, and generosity of Eleni, please consider honoring her with a donation to help build the St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Cemetery Anastasi Chapel.
