Ed's Cancer Treatment Fundraiser

Edward Eckhardt was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in June of 2024. Within 3 weeks of a CT that showed possible lesions on his sternum and spine. He developed multiple tumors in his spine, arm and Sternum. The tumor in his sternum grew to the size of an apple within 3 weeks. The tumor in his right arm rapidly grew and shattered his right arm and he needed to have a rod inserted into his arm. The multiple tumors in his spine threaten to paralyze Edward from the neck down. The tumor in his sternum is located next to his heart. His cancer is growing extreme fast, and he is in need of certain cancer treatments immediately. One treatment is over 7 thousand dollars for a 21 days' supply. He will need this treatment monthly for at least 6 months. In the last month. Edward has been hospitalized 4 times and was in the ER last week for complications with his arm surgery. Tests from last week show the tumors are still growing but have slowed down somewhat. He started Chemo 2 weeks ago but needs the medication that is currently not covered to the cancer cells rapidly. Without this medication he could die or be parlayed within weeks. If these tumors continue to grow and he becomes paralyzed, he will need to receive care in a nursing home since his needs to survive will be lifelong. I am his wife and I have my own spinal issues along with several life threating conditions. I had to take 12 weeks of unpaid leave to assist Edward with his personal care. The chances of be being able to go back to work are very slim, after 12 weeks I will lose my work health care and have to pay about $1,000.00 a month to continue my Cobra health Care for 18 months then I will have to pay for my own insurance. Since I will not be able to work for now and probably won't be able to go to work in 12 weeks our family will lose my work income also.
