EAA Chapter 1202 Student Aviation
Donation protected
The Farmville Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and Fuqua School have undertaken an exciting project which will give high school students an opportunity to explore careers in aviation. In addition, students who enroll in the class will be able to work under the direction of members of the EAA to construct a Zenith 750, an all-metal, single-engine, two-place airplane. Whether a student dreams of becoming a pilot, or is seeking a hands-on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) course to augment his or her high school curriculum, this new course will give a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to these high school students. The EAA still needs $35,000 to complete construct of the Zenith 750.
Building the Airplane
Students will spend two days each week and one Saturday each month building the Zenith 750 under the supervision of EAA Chapter 1202 members experienced in building experimental aircraft.
Classroom Portion
Three days a week, the classroom portion of the class will center around on-line courses offered by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. “Course topics include aircraft systems, aerodynamics, flight instruments, airports, airspace, air traffic control, aeromedical factors, aviation weather, performance, navigation and more.” www.erau.edu
Invest in the Future of Aviation
With an anticipated remaining cost of $35,000, this project can only become a reality with the financial support of donors like you. Together, we can inspire students to pursue the aviation careers of tomorrow. Let’s take flight together!
