A cause I care about needs help

Tax deductible
If you live in a west side Salt Lake City community you may be aware of the Og-woi People's Orchard and Garden project (OPOG) at mile marker 40 on the Jordan River Parkway Trail. The OPOG project  is transforming an area of "openland" (a term used for portions of parks that have no improvements) into an oasis of abundant FREE food production, urban agricultural education, and community bond strengthening.

In the short time that the OPOG has existed (started at the end of May 2020) the evidence of community benefit from the project has been enormous. Community ownership has organically led people using the park trail to freely pick vegetables, take turns watering the garden beds, give their dog a drink, fill a water bottle and answer questions that their small children ask while exploring the project.

So far dozens of community volunteers have found rewarding experiences while bringing the OPOG project into existence.  If helping create a wonderful feature in our Salt Lake communities is something you are interested in, you are invited to contribute in any or all of a variety of ways.

I am helping Collaborators launch this gofundme to accelerate the rapid expansion of this inspiring project, by raising money through Blue Sky Institute, a project Collaborator, and any donation will help make an impact.

The specific items that funds will be used for include:

- rental of equipment to help with the preparation of planting spaces for fruit tress and annual vegetables
- wood chips and compost
- fruit trees
- building materials for a storage shed for a tool sharing program, hoop house materials a free food pantry, a weather proof tiny library, sitting benches around the project and a gathering area for community discussions

Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me and the other Collaborators, including The United Panther Movement (Salt Lake Chapter), Dirt2Table Project,  Arm in Arm 4 Climate Movement, Utah Tar Sands Resistance, New Hope Community Center, Neighborhood Resiliency Initiative as well as numerous neighborhood volunteers.
