Did you know, 1,700 American cities are predicted to be flooded/underwater by the year 2100?
“The fact is that climate change does affect everybody. We believe that in order to build a popular movement, we need to reach out to everyone we can to help them understand the ways that their own lives are impacted by the crisis and that there are real ways to take action.” -Organizing Cools the Planet
What: The NC Climate Justice Summit is a three day "camp" for youth and adults to learn together about what we can do to preserve our earth and strengthen our communities. There will be interactive breakout sessions, hands-on workshops and many opportunities to get involved in climate action.
Who: We plan for 200 participants from all walks of life and regions of NC.
When: Nov 21-23rd

The Goals of NCCJS:
1) Understand how climate change connects to social justice issues through food, water, energy, housing, transportation, health, and green jobs/economy
2) Bring younger and older leaders together to explore solutions
3) Learn new skills and develop new relationships
Why is this important?
North Carolina is particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts such as sea level rise, more severe hurricanes, droughts and floods. Its important to involve our whole community and educate people on this issue. Future generations are counting on us to be leaders now and take every possible step to solve this crisis!
So why are we asking for donations?
We want everyone who wants to attend the Summit to be able to come! In fact, teens under 18 get in for free (all meals, lodging and program materials included)! And we have a sliding scale fee for adults as well as travel support for those who need it. But we can only cover half of our costs by keeping our registration fees so low. Your donation ensures that no one will be turned away for lack of funds. We are also looking for sponsorships from businesses and organizations all over the state!
