You can help a dream come true for a group of young athletes! These athletes are hockey players and we're raising money to build them an indoor ice rink.
Learning to play ice hockey, and also compete well against other teams, takes practice, determination, perseverance--it's a lot of hard work. But it's also a ton of fun! So if you've ever seen the dedication and passion of a kid who loves the sport of hockey, you'd know why this is worth it. If you've ever witnessed a kid's first time on the ice, with a smile SO BIG you can feel it in your heart, you'd know why this is all worth it. We've witnessed both and so much more. We know this is worth it!
We are a group of hockey families who live, work and play in Brandon, SD and the surrounding communities. Our kids currently practice and play limited games on our outside ice rink. As much as we love playing outside and the many memories we've made, winters in South Dakota are pretty unpredictable. Some days, the wind chill is too cold to safely be outside. A few days later, the weather can be so warm and sunny that the ice starts to melt. This makes it very difficult to have consistent practice times and host very many games. Our dream is to have an indoor ice rink where our kids will learn how to play hockey and create life-long friendships. This rink will allow our youth to practice and play this exciting sport on a regular basis and help to promote the family atmosphere for which Brandon is known. And it will provide a place for community members--young and old--to participate in other winter activities, like figure skating, curling, and sled hockey (for disabled participants). It will also provide a boost to the local economy and be a catalyst for further development.
Our close-knit, dedicated group of families continue to persevere despite have faced many challenges over the years. We are very determined and focused on achieving this dream! We recently took a first step forward and broke ground on our new home. While this is extremely exciting, we need to raise additional funds to complete the rink building, locker rooms and other amenities. Come join our efforts!
