Throughout her life, she has witnessed the subtle and often painful ways society treats those with special needs differently. From passing glances to outright exclusion, these experiences have inspired a mission to build a more inclusive and understanding community. Raising 4 Ability was founded by a sister who knows firsthand the beauty, strength, and kindness in her brother and who wants others to see beyond the differences. With six friends by her side, she dreams of breaking down barriers and fostering connections that bridge gaps, celebrate differences, and bring hope to those who may feel unseen or misunderstood. This club is a testament to the love she holds for her brother and for all individuals with unique abilities.
This year, Raising 4 Ability is aiming to donate to BC Centre for Ability, an organization that works to provide programs and services to children, youth, and adults with disabilities. In order to do this, we need your help!
As a newly established club, we currently have no initial funds to help kickstart our mission of breaking down societal barriers between the special needs community and the general public. Your generous donation will support our activities and initiatives planned for this year, enabling us to make a meaningful impact, such as:
- In-school and neighborhood fundraisers: Engaging the community to raise awareness and gather support for our mission.
- Awareness campaigns at Burnaby North Secondary: Hosting events and workshops to educate students and promote inclusivity.
- Community outreach programs: Partnering with local organizations to extend our efforts beyond the school and into the broader community.
- Educational materials: Creating brochures, posters, and digital content to spread our message effectively.
- Skill-building workshops: Offering sessions for individuals with special needs to develop new skills while connecting with others.
- Volunteer training: Equipping volunteers with the knowledge and tools to support our initiatives and work effectively with the special needs community.
