Hello, my name is Keleshia. I am Jamaican-born and immigrated to the States when I was 15 years old. This page is not about me or my family. On Sunday during the NYC Marathon, I met Shanon. We were both wearing Jamaican flags and formed an instant bond. She told me about her town of Charlie Mount and how 90% of the homes there were destroyed. Shanon did not ask me for anything; she wanted to spread awareness about rural isolated areas in Jamaica that often go unrecognized. I did my research and found that almost all of the schools, training centers, and local churches were destroyed. These people desperately need our help from the Diaspora at large. Our Goal is to ship All Donations and purchased Goods by November 22nd, 2025.
In partnership with Gold Finger Track Club and other friends in the running community, this GoFundMe page is established to render aid to a small rural town in Westmoreland, Jamaica, in the advent of Hurricane Melissa 2025. Small rural towns such as Seaford, Charlie Mount, Belvedere, Grasspond, Rat-Trap, and Bethel Town often receive little to no government assistance or media recognition in Jamaica and nationwide. These towns are relying on grassroots efforts like ours to provide aid.
I am partnering with a native-born resident of Charlie Mount to collect, pack, and ship all collected supplies to these affected regions. Our goal is to collect clothing items, shoes, toiletries, canned foods, baby supplies, solar-powered lanterns, flashlights, possible tents, and tarpaulins used to make makeshift roof coverings. We believe that our collective efforts can make a difference in some families' lives and give them the resilience to keep striving on.
