Hi, my name is Marlynn Banks, and I’ve created this GoFundMe as a last resort in seeking financial support to cover the final attorney fees for my divorce.

For those who know me, it’s no secret that I’ve been in a long, drawn-out battle with my soon-to-be ex-husband. This divorce has unfortunately been prolonged due to the high conflict nature of our relationship.

To date, I’ve spent $19,000 out of pocket to ensure the safety and well-being of my children and myself. As a single mother of two, I’ve had to take care of everything emotionally, physically, and financially for our children without any support from their father, despite court orders.

We are scheduled to finalize the divorce this upcoming Monday, May 5th, and my remaining attorney fees are due. I’ve done everything in my power to support our family of three during this incredibly difficult time, but I am now beginning to experience financial hardship.

To provide some context: I initially filed for divorce in February 2024 and we both decided to try to work things out. However, due to a series of events, I had to file again a few months later in August. On August 4, 2024, I was involved in a domestic violence incident with my husband. That very same day, I packed up our children and whatever belongings could fit into my car and left to somewhere we would be safe.

He destroyed our home in the presence of our children, verbally abused me, and ultimately put his hands on me. The altercation became so loud that neighbors called the police. Thankfully, the officer arrived just as he had his hand around my neck. The children and I were displaced and unable to return home until November 2024. To this day, he still denies any of this taking place.

With the help of an attorney, we were able to secure a temporary custody order. The court required him to move out and allowed the children and I to return home, along with other protective measures to ensure our safety. Since then, I’ve worked hard to keep our lives stable, loving, and secure.

I am forever grateful to my village of friends and loved ones who have helped us get this far. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve done my absolute best to show up every day as the stable foundation for our children, and due to this, they are thriving.

My children are my entire world, and their safety and well-being will always be my top priority.
