Hi, my name is Mackenzy, & I am 17 yrs old. I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation when I was 8 yrs old. The oral pain meds to help manage my headaches for the pain in my head & neck, have stopped working. I have been in and out of ER’s for pain management. On 11/21 while I was at the University of Iowa Children’s hospital getting an IV “pain cocktail,” I had a seizure, & passed out. Due to my Chiari getting worse, the Dr’s are in the process of scheduling surgery. I will be there for a week or longer, depending on the outcome of surgery. My Mom will be staying with me, & my Dad will be traveling back & forth from Vinton to Iowa City daily, until I am out of the hospital.
