Dolores is home from the hospital ! Her veterinary team at Cornell Large Animal Hospital was able to remove the mammary gland containing the mass, as well as her ovaries. Although cancer in this area of the body is extremely rare in pigs, Dolores’s radiologist believes the mass was likely cancerous— we will know for sure in a few weeks when the pathology returns on that. The good news is, they think they got it all removed! Her bill came to a whopping $3,622.75…. A truly giant number for us, especially when taken into account we spent another $500 on getting her up there because our truck was in the shop, and the fact we JUST spent $3,500 this summer trying to save Dolores’s daughter at Cornell too. Any donations will continue to go towards covering Dolores’s hospital bill.

Hi there! Thanks for visiting our page! Little Snout is a home for large breed rescued pigs; run by two sisters who were born into a pig farming family but refuse to let that be who we are.

Instead, we now are trying to open up our very own pig sanctuary in the Hudson Valley and have rescued three large breed pigs thus far. Our goal is to become a designated 501c3 sanctuary in the near future. Why arn’t we already that? Well, because we are both in our early twenties and opening a sanctuary takes a lot of money….like A LOT… not to mention a tremendous amount of time, energy, physical labor etc… . But we’ll do it! We know we can with help from those of you who care about ending animal cruelty just like we do.

Currently, our biggest concern are our medical bills. We recently lost our dear Freida to cancer, which left us with an over $3,000 vet bill. As if that wasn’t hefty enough, our beloved and longest resident Dolores, is about to make the trek to Cornell Animal Hospital for testing on a potential cancerous mass. Should she need surgery, we could be looking at an additional $4,000-$5,000 stay. Not super fun for anyone! And especially not for two young adults just getting started on this adventure.
