2024 has been a very different year for us! The most significant event that impacted us the most was in May when Kevin’s kidney issues worsened, and he ended up in ICU due to a UTI that turned septic, causing him to go into cardiac arrest. He was flown to Morgantown and placed on continuous dialysis and on a ventilator for 6 days. By the Grace of God, he got absolutely amazing care at Ruby Memorial and was sent back to our home area to receive physical therapy & occupational therapy at a skilled nursing facility. After a couple more hospital visits, being set up for regular dialysis treatments, and a couple of months in the rehab facility, he was finally discharged home in September.

Of course, in the midst of all this, medical bills and expenses have started to pile up. Kevin absolutely loved his job and was hoping to return to the position that he held for over 10 years as the Emergency Manager of Fayette County, but was forced to medically retire due to arrangements for accommodations not being accepted. This caused us to lose over half of our income until we are able to get his Disability & Retirement benefits going. We have income from my job and have strategically used his short-term disability policy & other hospital policies that he had, but unfortunately, those policies only go so far.

Our wonderful church family at Kilsyth Freewill Baptist is putting together a Benefit Gospel Sing for us, but due to weather concerns will be rescheduled for a later date. We have had several people asking how they can make a contribution if they can’t make it to the benefit sing, so that has led us here. Anything that anyone is willing to contribute will be greatly appreciated!!
