Hello friends—my name is Susan, and I’m reaching out with an important update about my dear friend Kelly.
Because of your generosity last year, we raised $5,000—enough to help Kelly repair her car, secure new housing, remain stably housed, and cover critical living expenses over the past year. Thank you—truly. Your support has made a real and tangible difference in her life.
Unfortunately, Kelly’s situation has become even more urgent. In addition to living with lupus and fibromyalgia, she is now facing cancer and is scheduled for surgery next week. As she prepares for this major surgery and recovery, the most important thing she needs is stability and safety—a secure place to heal.
To keep Kelly in her current home for another year, we need to raise an additional $7,800. These funds will cover rent and essential living expenses, so she does not face displacement during an already overwhelming medical crisis.
Kelly is 63 and receives minimal financial support, with no safety net to fall back on. Despite chronic illness, she has poured love and care into creating a small haven—her home—and finds joy in simple things, like watching the neighborhood ducks. The thought of losing that stability while facing cancer treatment is devastating.
We are continuing to seek assistance through local support agencies, but as many of you know, those resources are limited and do not come close to meeting the reality of her needs. This fundraiser is what is making the difference.
Funds raised will be used to:
* Keep Kelly housed for another year.
* Cover basic living expenses (utilities, phone, essentials)
* Provide stability during surgery, recovery, and ongoing treatment.
If you can give, any amount helps. $5, $10, $25—or a monthly donation—adds up when we do this together. 26 people who pledge $25 a month will reach our goal! If you’re not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser is also a powerful way to support Kelly.
Thank you for caring, for showing up, and for helping Kelly face this next chapter with dignity, safety, and hope. Your support truly means the world.
With deep gratitude,
Susan
