Overwhelming Medical Bills
Donazione protetta
Hi, my name is Angelo Martinez. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a hard worker—dedicated, determined, and always pushing forward no matter what life throws my way. But right now, I’m facing a challenge I can’t overcome alone.
In October 2022, I landed my dream job. Just nine days later, I was diagnosed with Stage III Colorectal Cancer. Out of fear of losing my position, I kept my diagnosis a secret and pushed through grueling chemotherapy treatments while working full-time. I used every bit of vacation and PTO for four surgeries and recovery periods, all while barely holding onto my job due to frequent absences. It was brutal. My hair literally fell out on the sales floor, and my boss found it. That was the moment I finally broke down and shared what I had been going through.
On top of the physical and emotional toll, I was forced to undergo experimental treatments that my insurance refused to cover. I drained my savings, maxed out my credit cards, and took on overwhelming debt just to stay alive. Today, I am drowning in over $149,000 in medical debt, five months behind on my rent, and struggling under sky-high interest rates. I work every bit of overtime I can, but I’m barely keeping up with late fees, let alone making progress on my actual debt.
I never imagined I’d be in a position where I had to ask for help. I’ve always prided myself on handling things on my own.
I am in good health today, and I am still working tirelessly to rebuild my life. But I can’t do this alone. I need help to catch up on my rent, keep a roof over my head, and begin tackling this overwhelming medical debt. If you can donate, share, or support in any way, I would be beyond grateful. Every little bit helps more than you know.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
