Hi, my name is Jasin Pearce, an RN living in the Orlando area, born and raised in Caledonia in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica.
We all know by now of the devastating impact that Hurricane Melissa has left on my island home of Jamaica. My community in particular, Caledonia in the parish of Westmoreland, among the hardest hit, has experienced unimaginable loss of property. It is still 100% without power, and there is very little communication coming out of that area, as the communication infrastructure has been totally decimated.
My family and I have already started purchasing life-saving food and emergency supplies. But as I think of how great the needs are, my personal contribution will only be able to scratch the surface. So I’m asking those who are so moved to contribute to this cause.
If you live in the Orlando area and would like to donate food, clothes, shoes, first aid supplies, generators, Starlink communication systems—whatever you believe could prove useful in this crisis (used or new)—please reach out to me. Monetary contributions will be used solely towards the welfare of my community and where resources allow to the wider area. Thanks for your contribution and consideration. God bless you!
