Donate to Help Marlous After Her Bike Accident
Donation protected
Last Wednesday, August 16, Marlous was in a serious Citibike accident in New York and was taken to the hospital. She sustained bilateral fractures of the ulna olecranon—this means she broke both her elbows, which are now in casts. She is back in the Netherlands to undergo surgery on her elbows and the recovery time is estimated to be three months to a year. She likely needs to go to a rehabilitation centre because she needs help with everything, such as eating, personal hygiene and getting in and out of bed.
Marlous’s Chinatown apartment is currently undergoing construction; there is no telling when she will be able to come back to New York. She needs emergency funds to help with these impending issues:
- Daily caregiver.
- Physical therapy.
- Covering bills while she’s unable to work.
- Rent.
- Transportation to and from hospital and appointments.
- Purchasing or renting medical equipment, as she currently cannot move her arms. Marlous will also be immobile post-surgery.
- Potentially hiring movers to relocate her belongings from the temporary space where she has been staying back to her apartment post-construction.
- Hiring a service to clean her apartment before her things are moved back in.
Marlous appreciates everyone’s help and is grateful for all support in this difficult time.
