Hi, my name is Robin Lamb and I (along with so many) have been family, friend and customer to the Huntoon Family for nearly 60 years. The Huntoon family has been synonymous with riding lessons, training horses & starting new riders in the Fox Valley Area for 4 generations. 1000's of young (and adult) riders have gotten their start riding with the Huntoon's. Many rider's continue for years, even becoming a generational activity in their own families with many of their children starting their riding experience at Huntoon Stables as well. They have brought horses and youth activities to the local community by providing opportunities to share their love for horses with 1000's of Girl Scout Troups, Park District Riders, college students and community open houses.
Friday night, March 31, 2023 an incredibly powerful storm blew through the North Aurora area (along with many others locally) and severely damaged the stable. The whole North West side of the stable roof was torn off and destroyed, with debris distributed several hundred feet away from the stable. The inside of almost half of the stable was exposed to the elements, along with the equipment and to some degree the horses.
ALL HORSES AND PEOPLE WERE SPARED! 11 of the horses that are stabled at that end of the building with the damage were evacuated overnight Friday to an event facility that had stabling open temporarily between events. The remaining horses are at the secure end of the building and it is hoped that they will not have to be moved immediately, or at all. Contractors have been on site to start securing what is still there until full repairs can begin, and now the wait is for Insurance questions to be answered...
The hope for these funds is to help in the process of not only rebuilding the structure and replacing the roof and other damage, but very much to help with the many costs of relocating the horses, paying the higher costs of feeding them and stabling them offsite for at least several weeks, if not potentially longer. To cover expenses trying to carry on business while caring for horses in two locations an hour apart. And to cover expenses in the repair and rebuilding already known to not be covered by insurance.
The Huntoon family has, over several decades, touched the lives of thousands of young to old riders and created an environment where young riders can get a start in an activity that is a lifelong experience. Building not only skills but also creating friendships that for very many, have lasted decades following their time at the stable.
Please help us help support this family and family business through these tough times. Thank You!
