Update!
Heather is home and recovering. That is an answer to prayer in itself, but comes with new challenges. One of the biggest expenses they will have is therapy. In-home therapy is the best option as getting in and out of the car and even just riding is extremely painful. She is also having to give herself daily injections to help prevent blood clots.
Please continue to pray for Heather and the whole family. If you are able to give anything, it will be greatly appreciated and used to help her heal.
As many of you may already know, Josh, Heather, and Austin were involved in a serious jet ski accident on Friday, August 1st. Heather sustained significant injuries and remains hospitalized. She has suffered nearly 30 fractures on the right side of her body, including:
• 4 fractures in her right tibia
• 2 fractures in her right fibula
• 3 pelvic fractures
• 2 fractures at the socket ring of her pelvis
• A fractured patella with torn ligaments and tendons
• A fracture of the right superior pubic ramus
Heather is currently being treated in a hospital about 30 minutes from their home. On top of the emotional and physical toll, the financial strain is mounting. The family is facing not only extensive medical bills but also ongoing costs for fuel, meals during hospital visits, lost income from Josh missing work, and many necessary home care supplies.
Once Heather is discharged, she will require a number of at-home medical items including a wheelchair, walker, adjustable bed frame, permanent grab bars, and medications. Additionally, she will face therapy and possibly home health care expenses in the months ahead.
She will also need rehabilitation that will not be covered by insurance after the first 2 sessions.
This is a family that has always been there for others, showing kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Now, they need us.
