One of our beloved team members, Angela Elias, is facing a very challenging health journey.
Angela recently received a rare diagnosis of a brain tumor and will soon undergo surgery at UCSF, followed by a second thyroid surgery shortly after her brain surgery. She is facing months of recovery and has had to cut back her hours due to severe daily symptoms.
Please join us in supporting her through this challenging time by contributing to her GoFundMe we have created on her behalf.
Your kindness and generosity mean the world to Angela, and will help carry her through to brighter days ahead.
This is a quick summary from Angela that gives a picture of what she has been walking through:
On April 28th, I experienced a sudden and frightening health episode while at work, which led to an ER visit.
Thankfully, it wasn’t a heart attack or stroke, but it set in motion a series of scans and tests that revealed something I never imagined: on June 18th, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor that is taking over 60% of the cavity.
I am now under the care of the exceptional team at UCSF. They’ve identified my case as rare - one they haven’t seen in over 35 years and I am scheduled for brain surgery in the coming weeks. In addition, UCSF have stressed the need for my extremely large thyroid nodule to be removed as they suspect there may be cells behaving badly, requiring a second surgery with their top thyroid surgeon shortly after the brain surgery.
The journey so far has been incredibly difficult. Daily symptoms of crushing fatigue, severe migraines, nausea, dizziness, and blurry vision have forced me to cut back on my hours at Skin Spirit and made even simple tasks a challenge. The combined recovery from both surgeries is expected to take 2–3 months.
Through it all, I remain deeply grateful - for the compassion of my coworkers who first stepped in when “something was really, really wrong,” for the extraordinary care I am receiving, and for the hope of returning to the vibrant, laughter-filled life I love.
