Donate to Aid Sarah Duarte's Medical Journey

Hey my Framily! I have set up this GoFundMe to help a precious young lady that we Iove dearly. Sarah Duarte is Hugo Duarte's only child. Hugo was one of my besties and we lost him to esophageal cancer in November 2014. There are quite of few of you who knew him personally and may have even met Sarah. She's the sole caregiver to her 3 children and she's a wonderful mother. Her children are her entire world.

She is dealing with some MAJOR health issues. You may be aware that she had a cancer fight back in 2019 and rallied against it. Well, she is dealing with a SEVERE GI issue known as Gastroparesis. She has lost 45 lbs. in the past 6 weeks as she is unable to keep anything down with the exception of protein drinks and now she is struggling with those! She needs weekly IV treatments with additional vitamins & minerals. These are costly as well as the past several ER visits she has had. Her medical costs & illness are beginning to overwhelm her and she knows I am setting this up to try to assist her financially. She has an appointment for further testing on the 30th, which will hopefully allow her medical team to get her on track with treatment. As of now, there is nothing they can do for her, with the exception of a FEEDING TUBE. This is terrifying, to say the least. She was informed that she has a "dead stomach". In other words, her stomach has shut down!! She is incredibly sick and my heart hurts for her and her children!

Gastroparesis is a condition that affects the normal spontaneous movement of the muscles (motility) in your stomach. Ordinarily, strong muscular contractions propel food through your digestive tract. But if you have gastroparesis, your stomach's motility is slowed down or doesn't work at all, preventing your stomach from emptying properly.

Gastroparesis can interfere with normal digestion, cause nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. It can also cause problems with blood sugar levels and nutrition. There is no known cure for gastroparesis at this time.

I am asking for any amount to help reach her goal of $3000. Her IV costs alone will run approximately $800+ monthly & this doesn't include other medical costs. Please contribute if you are able. In speaking with Sarah today, she is hesitant to ask & we decided that I would run this fundraiser for her. She will receive ANY and ALL funds that are donated.
