Donate for a Life-Saving Diabetic Alert Dog
Spende geschützt
I am raising money to get a diabetic alert dog to help manage my diabetes. I have been diabetic since 1995. I have always struggled with my diabetes just because my body is very sensitive to the insulin. I do use a continuous glucose monitor that is actually the only thing that has kept me alive this far. I have lost the ability to sense if my sugar level is low or high due to some specialty blood pressure medicine my body requires. A diabetic alert dog would essentially save my life on a regular basis. The continuous glucose monitor has been an insurance issue over the years, and it has continued to be an insurance issue. I would like to have security with my blood sugar and not have to worry about if my insurance is going to pay for it this month or not, and will I survive without the CGM.
Due to my diabetes, I am a dialysis patient, and my kidney's not functioning. There is a lot of insulin that goes through your kidneys, and my body seems to hold onto this insulin for way longer than expected, so I can keep dropping low for days at a time at random times throughout the day and night, which is very scary. This is where the diabetic alert dog would be key in trying different medicines to see if something can work better to get better-controlled numbers in the long run. This, in turn, will prolong my life.
Any and all donations are much appreciated. Donations will go for the dog with training, getting the dog transported to Ohio with its trainer, and two days of in-home training.
