Hurricane Relief for Dominica

As many of you already know the Caribbean islands have been devastated by the horrific storms that have passed through these past few weeks. Dominica was hit dead on by Hurricane Maria, with more than 90% of the island affected. Many people have lost their homes, their crops, which for many is the main source of survival. There is currently no electricity on the island, no running water, the rivers are contaminated. Many roads are blocked, or compromised. Word from our loved ones are finally beginning to trickle through as communication systems are just starting to get back online. 
The stories from everyone who has sent word is a bleak one. Many have lost everything! Yet there is one constant that you hear in everyone's voice. "WE HAVE LIFE"! "We will rebuild". 

Which is why this Go Fund Me has been created. As fellow Dominicans living abroad we have heard from our family members at home, how dire it is and we are playing our part to help our family and friends on the island. There is an immediate need for food, water, emergency first aid kits, emergency housing, etc. As per the people on the ground here is a list of their needs:

• Food - non perishable foods

• Water

• Roofing materials

• Lumber

• Plywood

• Windows

• Doors

• Nails

• Roofing screws

• Generators (5kva to 10kva)

• Chainsaws with cans, oil, fuel

• Communications equipment

• Tarps/Plastic sheeting

• Hygiene kits/Comfort kits

• Medical supplies

• Baby supplies (formula/baby food)

• Wipes

• Diapers

• Adult pampers

• Water purification kits

• Fuel

• Energy biscuits

• Cots

• Mattresses

• Portable stoves

• Flashlights/batteries

• Solar lanterns

• Kitchen sets

• Collapsible water containers (gallon)

100% of the proceeds from the funds will go towards getting these items to Dominicans who need it.
