Supporting DMPS Meal Program for Students
Donation protected
The Des Moines Public Schools district has had to close all buildings until April 13, presenting a serious crisis for the nearly 22,000 students within the district who rely upon school for free-or-reduced breakfast and lunch meals.
Beginning this Thursday, March 26, the district’s Food and Nutrition Department plans to offer meal support for students each day until schools can reopen; backpacks of food will be offered on Fridays to sustain students through weekends.
In order to provide this new initiative with financial support, Theodore Roosevelt High School's Student Council is collaborating with Site for Smiles and Smarts (www.smilesandsmarts.org) to raise funds.
Contributions of any size would be greatly appreciated. Though GoFundMe collects a transfer fee from each donation, we pledge that every dollar we receive will be directed toward the district's new program.
Thank you for your support,
